Abstract

Massive machine type and low-latency communications are already indispensable use cases of 5G wireless networks. This will open up new ways to monitor, assist, secure, control with applications ranging from machine-type communications to mission-critical communications. In particular, interaction includes not just sensing but also simultaneous actuation of numerous connected devices, especially for services with stringent requirements on latency, reliability and availability, e.g. tactile internet. Such tactile services will require ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) with the reaction time of an object/device be around 1ms. In this talk, we will develop a framework for guaranteeing both low-latency and ultra-reliability requirements of URLLC in the presence of massive IoT applications, and share some of our recent works.
